Editorial Covenant

The Animal Exotics Archive exists to document, preserve, and explore the enduring relationship between humans and animals across cultures, generations, and history.

Animal Exotics recognizes that animals have influenced human life in ways both practical and symbolic. They have served as companions, workers, protectors, transportation partners, sources of livelihood, subjects of art, symbols of belief, and participants in community life. These relationships have shaped cultures, traditions, economies, stories, and identities throughout the world.

At its foundation, Animal Exotics seeks to honor the Human–Animal Relationship in all its layers.

The archive approaches this subject with curiosity, respect, and intellectual honesty. Our purpose is not to judge, advocate, romanticize, or diminish particular relationships. Rather, we seek to observe, document, and preserve evidence of how humans and animals have interacted across time and place.

Entries within the archive may include records of animal-inspired expression, historical photographs, material culture, transportation systems, agricultural practices, community traditions, craftsmanship, symbolism, stewardship, companionship, and other forms of human–animal interaction. Each record contributes to a broader understanding of the role animals have played in shaping human experience.

Animal Exotics functions as a long-term cultural archive. As the collection grows, the platform will prioritize accuracy, context, thoughtful observation, and responsible stewardship of the historical record.

This covenant serves a simple guiding principle:

To document and preserve the enduring dialogue between humanity and the animal world.
